Join or Renew

Thank you for your interest in BSLS.  To become a member please:

1. Email the following information to Stella Pratt-Smith: your prefix/title; first name; last name; position; university/institutional affiliation; mailing address; email; preferred telephone number; and a summary of your key research interests in approximately 30 words.  (Please note that this summary will be viewable by other members but, rather than listing publications, should inform as to your central areas of focus.)
2. Either send a cheque made payable to the British Society for Literature and Science, for £10 (annual membership) to Ms. Stella Pratt-Smith, Balliol College, Oxford University, Oxford OX1 3BJ.  Renewal of memberships takes place on January 1st each year.  Or, if you would prefer to pay by standing order  so your membership renews automatically, please see the information under ‘Renew’ below.
3. Confirm whether you would like to review publications relevant to your research, for the BSLS website.

We look forward to hearing from you and welcoming you as a member. PLEASE NOTE THAT MEMBERSHIP RUNS TO THE END OF THE CURRENT CALENDAR YEAR (NOT TO A YEAR AFTER THE POINT AT WHICH YOU JOINED); MEMBERSHIPS PURCHASED AFTER 1 OCT WILL RUN TO THE END OF THE FOLLOWING CALENDAR YEAR).

To renew your existing membership:

1. Renewals can be made either by cheque or by standing order (in which case, membership will renew automatically until you cancel your standing order).

2. You can set up a standing order mandate so that your membership renews automatically each year.  Please use this BSLS standing order mandate. Unfortunately, because of high bank costs for currency transactions, and different banking systems, you can only use this form of payment for British bank accounts in pounds sterling. If you don’t have such an account, please renew by one of the other methods. Direct any questions to our treasurer Daniel Cordle.

3.  If you prefer to renew your membership by cheque, you can still do so by sending a cheque, made payable to the British Society for Literature and Science, for £10 (annual membership) to Dr. Daniel Cordle (BSLS Treasurer), School of Arts and Humanities, Nottingham Trent University, Clifton Campus, Clifton Lane, Nottingham, NG11 8NS.

4.  You can also pay by PayPal or by card by clicking on the link below.  Please note that, because of bank charges, it costs £1 extra to join or renew in this way.  When you click through to PayPal please enter your name in ‘Special instructions to the seller’ so it is easier for us to identify from whom the payment is coming.  If you are joining for the first time, please also e-mail Stella Pratt-Smith with the information above, so we have your details for our membership list and you can receive the full benefits of belonging to the Society.

PLEASE NOTE THAT RENEWALS RUN TO THE END OF THE CURRENT CALENDAR YEAR, NOT TO A YEAR AFTER THE POINT AT WHICH YOU RENEWED (MEMBERSHIPS RENEWED AFTER 1 OCTOBER WILL RUN TO THE END OF THE FOLLOWING CALENDAR YEAR).
