Below are the approximate dates at which regular BSLS events/deadlines occur:
January
· membership fees are due between the first of January and the April conference
· newsletter submissions are typically due on the last Friday
February
· the winter newsletter is typically published in the early half of the month
· executive committee officers’ terms ending in April are typically announced in the winter newsletter, with nominations due to the Chair and the Secretary prior to the start of the annual general meeting
March
· small grants applications are due on the first
· PGR/ECR funding applications are due on the first
· the short list for the previous calendar year’s Book Prize is typically announced during the month
April
· the annual conference is typically held early in the month
· the Book Prize (for the previous calendar year) is announced at the annual conference
· the annual general meeting is held during the annual conference; officers are elected to three-year terms
· around the middle of the month the grace period for the previous year’s membership ends
· newsletter submissions are typically due on the last Friday
May
· the spring newsletter is typically published in the early half of the month
· the CFP for organising the winter symposium is typically posted between May and July
June
· small grants applications are due on the first
· PGR/ECR funding applications are due on the first
July
· the deadline for winter symposium proposals is typically in July
· newsletter submissions are typically due on the last Friday
August
· the summer newsletter is typically published in the early half of the month
September
· small grants applications are due on the first
· PGR/ECR funding applications are due on the first
October
· for the book prize, nominations of books published in the current year are opened on the first and remain open through the end of the calendar year
· newsletter submissions are typically due on the last Friday
November
· the autumn newsletter is typically published in the early half of the month
· the winter symposium is typically held online, on a Saturday in November, usually in the earlier part of the month
December
· small grants applications are due on the first
· PGR/ECR funding applications are due on the first
· in most years conference abstracts are due early in December (but check the CFP as it has sometimes been much earlier)
· nominations for the Book Prize close at the end of the month
