Would you like to help the Curious Travellers project create an innovative online edition of arguably the most important travel books ever written about Wales and Scotland?
‘Picturing Pennant’ is a crowdsourcing project, run in collaboration with the National Library of Wales crowdsourcing team and the University of Glasgow. Focusing on Thomas Pennant’s eighteenth-century tours in Wales and Scotland – the foundations of modern tourism in Britain’s Celtic fringe – volunteers will help to match the lavish illustrations in Pennant’s private copies of his ‘Tours’ with the people and places referred to in the new online editions. This will create seamless links between artwork and text, significantly enriching readers’ experiences of Pennant’s enlightenment tours.
This is not just a job for experts (although they’re very welcome to join in!). Please follow this link to learn more about the ‘Picturing Pennant’ project, and find out how you can help us create groundbreaking online resources for Welsh and Scottish history from the comfort of your home.
